A Tamil Nadu man from India became a victim and lost Rs 72 lakh. The complainant stated that he invested a hefty amount with the broker two months ago. The story began when the broker allured him with false promises and attractive offers. He said, “2 months ago, I invested 6 lakh in Vanguard, luring me to buy several stocks, block trades, IPOs, etc.” When I had 73 lakhs total in the Vanguard account 15 days ago, I requested the assistant Megan finally that I withdraw some money to solve my problems, but she said no, you can't withdraw unless you pay the tax for the SIBI of 4.5 lakhs first. Further, he added.
The complainant also contacted the customer support of the broker. He asked them to help him to withdraw. A user told “ I even requested the professor and customer care to debit the tax amount from my Vanguard account. They said it's against the law they are unable to debit from my account”.
The victim stated “They are asking me to pay otherwise the account will be frozen, now 2 days back the Vanguard website was not working it's showing an error. Now my life is miserable they have robbed all my hard earnings and life savings.”
