The Central Bank of the Russian Federation (Bank of Russia) was established on July 13, 1990, based on the Bank of the Republic of Russia, the state bank of the USSR. It is primarily responsible for maintaining the stability of the national currency, the ruble. Until September 1, 2013, it was the main regulator of the Russian banking industry, responsible for bank licenses, banking rules, and accounting standards, and acting as a lender of last resort to credit organizations.
To reduce the risk of individuals and organizations engaging in illegal activities, the Bank of Russia takes steps to block the websites of such entities and implements other measures in cooperation with law enforcement and other authorized agencies, as well as foreign regulators.
You can lose money by using financial services provided by illegal actors. These companies can make Russian investors potential victims of fraud and even pose a security risk to unsuspecting global investors. If these unregulated brokers claim to be based in your country or region, please be cautious and verify their legitimacy with the local financial regulator.
Investors can also search their names on WikiFX, a comprehensive database and information platform for forex brokers, to learn why they are not recommended as an investment option.
Entities included in the list have the right to challenge the Bank of Russia, as follows in part.
